What these terms cover

These terms apply to cashucard.org, ops.cashucard.org and the Cashu Card Provisioner app, which Island Bitcoin LLC provides. By using them you agree to these terms. Write to hello@cashucard.org with any question about them.

An experimental project

Cashu Card is an experimental open source project. It runs NUT-CCP, a draft protocol with little testing or review outside this project, and an independent security review is still to come. Cards, the app and the ops service can fail, and money on a card can be lost. Keep only small amounts on a card, amounts you can afford to lose. The risks describe what can go wrong.

Open source software

The code is published under the MIT license, and that license governs your use of the code. These terms govern the services and apps as Island Bitcoin LLC runs and distributes them.

Ecash and mints

Island Bitcoin LLC holds no one’s ecash or bitcoin. Cashu mints issue ecash and hold the bitcoin behind it; a card stores ecash from the mint its wallet chose. Choose mints you trust, because a mint that fails or refuses to redeem leaves its ecash worthless.

Operator accounts

Accounts on ops.cashucard.org are for card operators we approve. Keep your password private, use the service only to set up cards you are allowed to set up, and follow the law where you work. We may suspend an account that puts cards, cardholders or the service at risk.

No warranty

The site, the app and the ops service are provided as they are, without warranties of any kind, as far as the law allows. To the same extent, Island Bitcoin LLC is not liable for lost funds, lost cards or other losses that come from using them.

Other people’s services

Wallets, tills, mints and card sellers linked from this site are run by others under their own terms.

Changes

Effective 26 October 2026. When these terms change, the date above changes, and the full history stays public on GitHub.
